This project threw a few curve balls my way over the last year! Yes, I started this project last July and I should have put it out as “curb alert” before our move last December.
Instead, I brought it with me and let it sit in storage for the last six months. It was almost done when I brought it out of storage, but in my quest for perfection, I managed to waste an entire can of paint trying to fix it before I eventually gave up. The original plan was high – gloss Fine Paints of Europe “Black” and General Finishes “Antique Walnut.”
^That drawer front was brush-painted, believe it or not!
The top turned out perfect and the combination was so pretty, even though I’m not personally a huge fan of black furniture.
Where I got the paint right, it was amazing!
Fast forward to last Friday – I was trying to finalize the finish and ended up botching it instead. What else is new? 😐 I was out of paint and had already wasted over $100 on paint mistakes, so I gave up and turned to my favorite paint to work with – General Finishes. I was determined to use my in-stock colors so I wouldn’t have to spend any more money. I mixed up a 50/50 blend of GF’s Millstone and Snow white for a beautiful, pale taupe.
